My Story

Portrait of your practitioner.

Curiosity is how I found my way to bodywork. I heard a friend tell a story of her yoga practice changing dynamically after she started receiving Rolfing sessions. As an avid yoga enthusiast at the time, I was interested in experiencing how bodywork might change my flexibility and experience of my body and practice.

I found a Rolfer in my hometown and booked an appointment. Each session was like an introduction to different parts of my body. It was like a dynamic and informative entryway into embodiment. Rolfing changed the way I experience my body, and the way I experience myself. My yoga practice changed, too, with each session. Thinking back now, it was such a change process for me. Embodiment in this way influenced how I viewed my work as a crisis response social worker at the time. I was just beginning to understand the body’s role in trauma. I was inspired! I trained to become a certified Rolfing in Boulder, Colorado and graduated in 2009.

Over the years I have added pieces in to support my understanding of the body and brain in how it moves, functions, and responds to life situations. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. SE has given me a greater understanding of how the nervous system affects structure, movement, behaviours, thinking, and reactions. I have a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counselling with additional trainings in attachment touch, and functional neurology.
